Phoenix is a collectible chaise lounge positioned at the intersection of furniture, sculpture, landscape, and space. Conceived as a continuous and unified form, it rises from the ground, extends through space, and returns seamlessly to the surface, evoking the presence of an inhabitable fragment of lifted terrain. Rather than relying on applied details or ornamental gestures, the project is defined through continuity, flow, and formal clarity.
Rooted in the ideas of regeneration, movement, and spatial fluidity, Phoenix challenges the conventional understanding of seating by encouraging reflection, pause, and personal interpretation. Instead of prescribing a singular posture, the chaise establishes an experiential relationship between body, object, and environment, allowing the user to inhabit the form freely. The project explores how furniture can operate not merely as a functional object, but as a spatial condition capable of shaping atmosphere and perception.
Materiality plays a central role in reinforcing this concept. A controlled contrast between the soft, seamless leather surface and the dark walnut wood frame introduces warmth, tactility, and craftsmanship while maintaining the purity of the overall geometry. Structurally, the chaise is supported by a lightweight flax fiber–reinforced composite shell combined with layered multi-density foams, balancing comfort, durability, and structural performance.
Phoenix is intended for curated interiors, galleries, exhibition spaces, and contemporary residential environments where furniture acts as both object and spatial presence. Quiet yet expressive, the project dissolves the boundaries between art, architecture, landscape, and furniture, proposing a contemplative and immersive seating experience.
