This couture garment transforms hand-drawn artworks created by children affected by war and terminal illness into a deeply personal wearable narrative. Their dreams, memories, emotions, and imagined futures are preserved through print, embroidery, and layered textile techniques, maintaining the authenticity of each child’s expression. Delicate couture elements—such as soft silhouettes, tulle layering, and intricate handcrafted detailing—are contrasted with the raw honesty of the drawings, creating an emotional dialogue between innocence and craftsmanship. More than a fashion piece, the garment becomes a living story that invites connection, empathy, and reflection.

Goal

The project aims to use fashion as a platform for storytelling, awareness, and social impact. Through exhibitions, campaigns, and runway presentations, the garments help raise funds and support for children’s healthcare charities while amplifying voices that are often unheard. By transforming children’s creativity into couture, the work creates visibility, value, and lasting emotional impact.

Mission

The mission is to redefine fashion as a tool for empathy, purpose, and change by bridging design, art, and humanitarian storytelling. Each garment honors children’s imaginations and preserves their stories through meaningful craftsmanship, promoting compassion, connection, and purpose-driven creativity.

Sustainable Methods

Sustainability is embedded throughout the design and production process. The garments incorporate reclaimed and upcycled materials, including vintage cotton, deadstock textiles, and repurposed denim, reducing waste and extending material life cycles. Low-waste pattern cutting techniques minimize textile waste, while leftover fabrics are reused in patchwork and embellishments. Children’s artworks are transferred using eco-friendly digital printing and low-impact inks that reduce water and chemical consumption. Hand embroidery and artisanal detailing support slow fashion practices and emphasize craftsmanship over mass production. By embedding personal stories into each design, the garments encourage emotional durability and mindful consumption, creating pieces intended to be treasured long-term rather than discarded.

Sahra designs

At Sahra Design studio, textile and fashion design are approached as a form of storytelling where every material, texture, and silhouette carries meaning. Rooted in sustainability, the practice focuses on thoughtful design concepts that blend craftsmanship, conscious processes, and narrative driven aesthetics. Each collection is created with intention, transforming ideas, culture, and emotion into wearable experiences that are both visually distinctive and responsibly made.
