Nestled within Suzhou’s renowned Yangcheng Lake Leisure and Tourism Resort, the hotel boasts beautiful scenery embraced by water on three sides. It harmoniously blends into the lakeside garden, resembling a traditional courtyard and offering an unparalleled retreat.
The hotel’s layout maximizes views by thoughtfully arranging public areas and guestrooms along the lakeshore, ensuring guests can enjoy lake views from arrival to dining to accommodation. For instance, the lobby boasts a thoughtfully designed outdoor area, while the spa and pool are strategically placed directly below the lobby, elevating the lobby to blur the boundary between indoors and outdoors, allowing guests to savor the beauty of the seasons throughout the year. The Chinese restaurant offers an unparalleled 270°panoramic lake view, ensuring a poetic stay.
We drew inspiration from the private residence of a renowned local historical figure, Shen Zhou, and integrated the essence of Xiangcheng’s ten traditional crafts, known as the “Ten Wonders of Xiangcheng” into the design, crafting a secluded haven for modern literati amidst the picturesque lakes and mountains.
The entrance, adorned with the water feature and a classic moon gate inspired by Jiangnan gardens, sets the tone for the journey ahead. The lobby showcases the imperial kiln bricks from the “Ten Wonders of Xiangcheng,” complemented by translucent glass bricks. Additionally, the central lobby bar is deliberately designed to be sunken, creating a semi-hidden atrium lounge area. The Chinese ink painting screen behind the front desk, Suzhou embroidery-adorned ceilings, lake-blue furniture and carpets……Carefully arranged full-glass walls and outdoor seating area provide an immersive experience of the waterside town’s charm.
The Chinese restaurant is adorned with exquisite K’o-ssu silk embroidery. The SPA soaking pools are inspired by the Imperial Kiln, offering a unique cave-like experience. In the guest rooms, elements such as pearl lights, violin-bow-shaped door handles, and lake-patterned screens pay homage to the local culture and ecology, creating an immersive and secluded retreat.
In terms of sustainability, the hotel’s materials are locally sourced. For example, the imperial kiln bricks are produced locally in Yangcheng Lake, reducing carbon emissions during transportation. The gym uses vinyl ceramic wood planks, which are eco-friendly, non-toxic, and renewable. The space extensively utilizes PVC sports flooring to enhance durability and employs environmentally friendly materials such as green-certified artistic texture paint.
