What Humans Love About Technology and Nature
Human beings are innately drawn to vitality and life. We are biologically programmed to find solace and relaxation in the natural world. Nature offers us a sense of peace, while technology simplifies our lives, making it easier to achieve more with less effort.
Our design philosophy at The Hotel at the Arundel Preserve embraces this dual fascination with nature and technology. The concept centers around “going with the flow,” using water elements to convey serenity and guide guests through a thoughtfully curated environment. Nature-inspired touches are innovatively integrated through artistic LED light fixtures, creating distinctive destinations amidst amorphous, refined finishes that evoke the habitat that once occupied this space. This design concept was implemented in the recent renovation of The Hotel at the Arundel Preserve, located at 7795 Arundel Mills Blvd, Hanover, MD 21076. Completed in December 2023, this renovation involved a comprehensive update of the lobby, pre-function areas, ballroom, and meeting rooms. Originally constructed in 2010, the hotel’s recent soft goods renovation was aimed at refreshing the space to feel contemporary and vibrant.
Situated on historic wetlands, the hotel’s location required a special permit for construction. Its strategic position offers easy access to notable nearby locations:
15 miles south of Baltimore
27 miles north of Washington, D.C.
24 miles from Annapolis, home of the Naval Academy (established in 1845 on the site of Fort Severn)
Minutes from Baltimore/Washington International Airport (BWI)
Minutes from Fort Meade, also the headquarters for the NSA

The total budget for this renovation was $1.7 million. Refreshing a design completed over 15 years ago presented a significant challenge. Our primary goal was to transform the existing elements to create a space that feels entirely new, while preserving the essence of the original design.
