Web Design Guides

Show how a website works, as well as how it looks.

A website presentation needs to explain a visitor’s task, the path through the interface and the result of an action. A home-page screenshot can introduce the visual direction, but it rarely demonstrates the complete experience.

For portfolios, business websites, editorial sites and online shops, choose one important journey and use it to connect your design decisions. Label prototypes honestly and describe which parts of the project your team delivered.

Choose evidence that explains the experience

Include the screens and states that support your main claim: a comparison view, a form error, a mobile navigation pattern or the confirmation after a completed task. If you mention accessibility or performance, state what you checked and the limits of the result.
