Architecture firm Alexis Dornier Makings has shared photos of a private residence in Berawa, Bali, that they completed which seamlessly blends contemporary Japanese design with tropical modernism.
The centerpiece of ‘The Free Bird Project’ is a living room positioned above the swimming pool, connecting two wings of the house and forming an H-shaped layout from above.

The yoga area, inspired by Kengo Kuma’s Glass House, features extensive use of glass to maintain a connection with the natural surroundings.
An unexpected space in the home is the playroom, which has a ballpit, slide, hanging chair, and a tree house.
A variety of stairs connects the various areas of the home.
Each of the bedrooms has a unique appearance. In this bedroom, a wood frame surrounds the bed, while a custom shelving unit lines the wall.
Another bedroom has a more minimalist look with simple wood furniture and a pendant light that acts as a bedside lamp.
