Casa Cenote is a two-story villa with several hidden features. Every element has been custom made for this property.
The entrance features 3.3-meter-high oak doors, a design detail repeated throughout the house. Inside, mouldings line the walls and consoles of stone with carpentry tops. Light fills the space through a sky window where three large chandeliers in black metal hang. The same black metal appears in the window frames, ventilators, switches, light fixtures, and staircase balustrade.
The window also brings light down to the basement, where a staircase in marble with curved oak and brass detailing connects the levels.
The living area has mouldings on the walls which hide all the doors into the bedrooms, guest bathroom, and cloakroom. The kitchen is open plan towards the living room. Oak with subtle bronze detailing appears throughout, in the bookshelves around the fireplace and in shelving in the dining area. One section of the dining shelf opens as a door into the pantry, giving the kitchen extra storage. The kitchen combines oak with olive-green cabinetry and marble tiles as seen in the staircase. Two of the cabinets also open as doors into an office, hidden from the social areas.
The office is finished in blue with fabric wallpaper and an abstract ceiling design. In the living area, a Calisa stone block with gold inside supports an oak tabletop.
All bedrooms include ensuite bathrooms. The design follows the same line but with different tones and marbles. Floors, countertops, and niches use marble, while walls combine plain and curved tiles. Ceilings have carpentry in oak and are painted in micro-cement to match each bathroom’s palette. Each bathroom has a curved mirror and indirect lighting. The master bathroom includes an enclosed toilet, a double shower, and his-and-hers sinks separated by wooden arches.
In the basement, between the red and white wine cellars, a stone wall opens as a hidden door into the cenote spa. It includes a sauna, hammam, changing rooms, bathroom, cold plunge, indoor pool with jet stream, and a skylight with waterfall. The spa also contains a gym.
Also in the basement, the entertainment room has a 70s-inspired Art Deco atmosphere. A full bar stands in front of arched shelving, one of which conceals a door with direct access to the spa bathroom. The sofa, bar, and arches all follow curved shapes, with materials combining suede, marble, and wood.
Since the property lacks sea views, a private beach was created in the back garden. Real sand forms a lagoon shape with seating and fabrics in a more vibrant palette. The garden includes a sun lounge, outdoor kitchen with barbecue, poolside bathroom, lounge, dining area, and a hammock.
Casa Cenote is a home of secrets, surprises, and crafted details – a place where every corner invites curiosity and every space tells a story. It’s design meant not just to be seen, but to be discovered.
