Serkova is a Polish vodka brand built on provocation, attitude, and youth culture, addressing a Gen Z and Millennial audience that values bold expression and experiential design. For the Summer 2025 Limited Edition, the brief was to create a collectible bottle that captures the intensity of summer nightlife in Greece while remaining faithful to Serkova’s strong and recognisable visual DNA. Rather than illustrating nightlife through familiar imagery, the concept approached summer as a physical experience. Inspired by thermal imaging technology, the design set out to measure nightlife rather than depict it, translating heat, movement, and bodily proximity into a visual language that allows the night to be felt rather than observed. This led to the development of Thermal Scan, a design system that renders dancing bodies, rising temperatures, and charged encounters as thermal traces. The bottle surface functions as a heat map of nightlife, capturing the physical intensity of summer nights through blurred silhouettes and hyper-saturated gradients. At the centre of the composition sits Serkova’s iconic red “X”, acting as both a visual anchor and a symbolic threshold—the point where control gives way to rhythm, desire, and collective energy—while ensuring continuity with the brand’s core identity. Execution treated the bottle as an active, performing object rather than static packaging. Specially developed UV-reactive inks allow the design to change behaviour depending on its environment. Under blacklight, the thermal visuals intensify and glow, activating in nightlife settings where the product is consumed. In daylight, the bottle remains bold and legible, maintaining impact and recognisability in retail contexts. This dual-state execution aligns the packaging with real conditions of use, transforming the bottle into an experience rather than a decorative object. The performative logic of the packaging was extended into the urban environment through an interactive installation in Athens. A thermal camera installed at a central bus stop captured real-time heat signatures of passers-by, displayed using the same visual language as the bottle. This spatial amplification allowed the packaging system to operate at human scale, reinforcing the connection between body, heat, and product. The project demonstrates how limited-edition spirits packaging can function as a living system, where material, surface, and environment work together to translate nightlife into sensation, movement, and visual intensity.
